TPS65217 use 3.3V supply only

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65217

Hi team,

1.would you please suggest if we can use TPS65217 with 3.3V supply only for AM335x device?

I mean use TPS65217 with AC and USB input not connected.

2. the 5V input on AC, USB are used for charging, right? If customer don't need battery charging, can we connect 3.3V to Ac or USB input?

Thanks.

Kevin

  • Hi Kevin,

    1) The input supply voltage should be greater than the largest output voltage + the dropout voltage, which would require ~200mV + power-path dropout, so 3.3V alone would be too low. This could only be done by having a fake "battery" voltage, but is not recommended.

    2) Without a voltage on VBAT, VAC or USB would have to be greater than 4.3V to be detected as a valid supply.
