Hello TI experts,
I am interested to use the Isolated gate driver UCC21520 for one of my application.
I need to ensure few points mentioned below before selecting UCC21250
1, What is the type of isolation(galvanic/opto/capacitive)inbuilt in UCC21250 ?
2, Is the gate driver IC UCC21520 perfectly suited for converter specification mentioned below.
Vindc: 48V,Voutdc : 400V ,switching frequency: 100 kHz,output power : 3000W,
topology : Phase shifted full bridge with LC output filter
3,I am facing noise related problems with my present gate driver IC where the switching frequency noises are coupled back to
controller PWM pulses. Will UCC21520 have similar issues?
4, The datasheet mentioned in the website provides limited information. Is this product available in market?
5, kindly share application notes, schematics if available, since i couldn't locate from TI site.
regards,
Ramesh.P
Hi Ramesh,
I have asked one of the driver application engineers to respond to this post. You should seen something soon.
Regards
Peter
Hi Ramesh,
Below are the answers to your questions.
1. It is capacitive isolation
2. I do not see any potential problem in using UCC21520 in this application
3. May I know what are you using currently? We do not expect the driver to cause any back feeding to controller. It has been seen that the switching frequency noise (and other harmonics associated with switching frequency) tend to couple to other parts of the circuit (including controller) due to improper PCB layout and improper filtering. We can review your layout if needed.
4 & 5. The part will be released in first week of July, but we have sampled this driver to many of our customers and their feedback is that our part is performing better than competition. You would be getting a lot more technical information once the part is released. If you need something immediately, I will ask my fellow systems engineer for anything you need in particular. His name is Wei Zhang and he also contributes to E2E.
Thanks for you interest and let us know if you need more info.
Regards,
Ritesh
