bq34z100-g1 flash write/replaceable battery system/lead acid charger

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ34Z100

Hi,

We are conceptualising this new switchgear  project and pretty much looking for a suitable full featured gas gauge for our 12Vcell lead acid battery.

The architecture requires that we need to have a replaceable battery systems. One of my question is if we do replace the battery which cutoff the power to the bq34z100 would the fuel gauge able to continue proper operation?.. I have seen that table 28 from the datasheet describe briefly what needs to be done to configure the system, but how about cycle count and SOH would that going to be reset back to zero?.. how long(cycle count) does it need to take before the fuel gauge back to its accuracy?.. Do you have application notes that elaborate more on the replaceable battery system?

One more concern of our stakeholders is the flash writes of 20Kcycles minimum. We would like to know how frequent the fuel gauge updates it flash?.. we are designing system that have 20years EOL except the Pb battery and I would like to know if this will be an issue in reliability point of view..

One last question is the charger. Is there a dedicated charger that automatically communicate with the fuel gauge to adjust autonomously the charging voltage and current for Pb battery? This is a standard config for Li but i was not aware of similar thing for lead acid..

Please help..

Jose
