TSAL

hello, I am a student at  RV COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING  Bengaluru. I am a part of a hybrid team named Team Chimera which aims in building a hybrid car. So with regard to that we are designing a TSAL(Tractive system active light). This TSAL glows when TSV(tractive system voltage) or the battery(which is used to run the motor) voltage goes above 60V. I am in need of a ciruit which gives out 5V when the battery voltage/TSV crosses 60V. I made use of a zener diode in series with a resistor but its not efficient. the zener diode breaksdown at less than 60V also.I need a suuden 0 to 5V transition occuring  exactly at 60V(TSV) and 0V for less than 60V(TSV).

Can anyone help me out please????

  • Hi Shivraj,

What's the your requirement for the 60V->5V application? How much current would the it consume from 5V output? How long would it last at 60V?

We have one 60V LDO TPS7A1650-Q1, which could support 5V output with 100mA current capability. However, thermal issue would rise when the power dissipation across the LDO is high for long time.
