TPS22968N Application Question?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2110A

Hi Expert,

VIN1 is 4.75~5.25V, VIN2 is 4.75~5.25V. There are independent power source. Can I use the below circuit? Thanks!

  • Hi Jerry,

What is the purpose of this circuit?  If my understanding is correct, then this looks like a latch up configuration.  Behavior would be below:

    1. ON1 is asserted high.

    2. Power Source 1 passes to VOUT.

    3. ON2 goes high because of VOUT going high.

    4. Power Source 2 passes to VOUT.

    5. If ON1 goes low, VIN 1 will turn off and VIN 2 will stay on.

The issue I see here is that the device does not have reverse current blocking.  If Power Source 1 is greater than Power Source 2, then reverse current will flow from one supply into another.  Is this a concern?

    Thanks,

    Alek Kaknevicius

  • Hi Alek,
Yes, it's my concerning. Do you have suitable solution like TPS2110A but with high current up to 4A? Thanks!
