TPS2379EVM-106 maximum Input Power

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2379EVM-106, TPS2379

Hi,

I am planning to use PSE POE29U-1AT with TPS2379EVM-106 to test POE (power over Ethernet ) for 30 W application. My cable length is < 10 m. Can I test this using 25 W load, since as per the datasheet the maximum input power delivered to TPS2379EVM106 from POE29U-1AT is 25.5 W and I doubt if this would power up my 25 W load . So is this maximum power input applicable for my application? Or due to less cable length, does the power delivered to PD will be close to 30 W , so that I can confidently power up my 25 W load?

Regards,

  • Hi Gaayathri,

You are right, there might be some power loss on the cable. You except to power on TPS2379 with 25.5w, so you need a PSE which could supplies power higher than 25.5w.
From the datasheet of POE29U-1AT, it shows " Compliant with IEEE802.3at Standard " and supports "30w power".
You can use it to power on your TPS2379EVM-106.
