BQ24190 STAT blinking at higher than 1 Hz Rate

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24190

Hello,

I have a battery connected with a thermistor that is fully charged.  The BQ24190 reports that charging is complete but I see the STAT pin blinking at a very high rate (>1Hz).  I don't see this condition covered in the datasheet and was curious if there are any explanations.  The only one I see is the device going from charging complete to charging but was curious on your thoughts.

  • Hello Jason,

Typically when I see this LED blinking on the EVM is when there is no battery present and the charger is toggling between Charging/Charge Terminated, similar to what you mentioned.

I would verify the battery connection is solid. You can also monitor the output of the BAT pin to verify if this is the case, you should see it toggling between 4.2V(or your regulation voltage) and another lower voltage.
