BQ76940 Alert interrupt not generating and columb counter issue

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76940

Hi,

i am working in BMS using Bq76940 with 15 cells.

i am using Arduino with CRC code for writing the data, i have following problems

1.Alert interrupt not generating even though  CC mode is continues.

2.Load detection works only once and load will be on but the load present bit will become zero even though load is present i think it may be due to mosfet is on which pull down the voltage ?

3.columb counter continues  to run with minus- sign without load.

  • 1. Seems you are driving the ALERT low  from the uC. Typically there is R||C noise filter. may it busted and dragging the ALERT pin Down.

    2. What is the condition of CHG pin, when detection is made ? it should be Low.

    3. Positive values are CHG currents; Negative values are DSG currents The current protection thresholds correspond to negative CC reading.

  • Hi,

alert pin i kept as open with 499K pull down resistor and checking pin interrupt via DSO.  CHG pin is '0'  load detection behaves randomly.

In columb counter  it is reading continuously in negative side without load and if i shorted the RSN pins even though it is reading continuously with fresh values.
