Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24253

Hi, all

I have a question about bq24253.

1. When Fault is detected during charging, does output of CHG change?
2. When detecting temperature abnormality of a battery during discharge, is battery FET turned off?
3. Which is Input Current Limit when connecting to a DCP port in EN1=0, EN1=0, 0.5A or External ILIM?

Best regards,

  • Hi Hirotsugu,

    replying according to your points:

    1. as stated in the datasheet, CHG pin  CHG is pulled low when a charge cycle starts and remains low while charging. CHG is high impedance when the charging terminates and when no supply exists. CHG does not indicate recharge cycles or faults.

    2. as shown in section 9.3.10 of the datasheet, a JEITA algorithm is implemented in the device.

According to Fig. 23, the battery FET is turned off only when on JEITA profile "No Charge" is indicated

    3. The question can be easily answered looking at Fig.18 in the datasheet.

As soon as a DCP port is inserted, the current limit is set by the ILIM pin. In case the EN1/EN2 configuration changes, the current limit is set according to the EN1/EN2 truth table

    Hoping this helps.

  • Hi, Sergio
    Thank you for your answer.
    1. OK I understand.
    2. I'd like to know there is no input voltage, and whether temperature abnormal measure and a protection integrated circuit also function during discharge.
    3. Does a charge start after measure of a EN terminal?

    Best Regards,
  • Hi Hirotsugu,
    2. the device has no thermal protection in the conditions you listed
    3. The charge starts right after the input detection. EN1/EN2 detection occurs only after D+/D- detection and if the EN1/EN2 configuration changes
