LM46002 SYNC pin question in inverting application

Hi there

I am looking into this demo SCH of TI, for inverting application of LM46002.

My question is , why there is an 0 ohm resistor R5 placed between SYNC pin and -Vout? I thought the capacitor C10 as an AC coupling is enough.

Could you please help explain? Thanks.

  • Hello,
The SYNC pin needs to be connected to the IC ground when not used. The '0' ohm resistor is a place holder to do just that. If you would like to use the frequency sync feature, then you would need to remove the resistor.

  • Hi , Akshay.

In Figure 41 of Datasheet, there is a Rterm. Could I think this resistor have two functions?: (1)high-speed termination when external sync clock appears, and (2) pull-down to GND when sync signal disappears.

Generally what's the value of this resistor? 50-100ohm?

    Thanks!
