LM3424 / Maximum duty ratio

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM3424

Hi,

How do we calculate the maximum switching duty ratio of LM3424 ?

  • Hello,

I am answering for someone that is out.

LM3424 is current mode control. Above 50% duty cycle slope compensation can become necessary to avoid sub-harmonic oscillation. The amount of added slope compensation depends on how high they duty cycle becomes. Also the more slope compensation added the more the converter behaves like voltage mode control versus current mode control. The datasheet has calculations for duty cycle for the various topologies. I'm not sure if you are asking what the maximum duty cycle of the LM3424 is or for a particular application.

    Thank you,
