bq24123 vs 24103

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24123, BQ24103, BQ24113

Hi,

My customer is interested in bq24123 and we know that bq24123 offers enhanced EMI performance compared with bq24103. Then I'd like to know other differentiation because the electrical characteristics are almost the same. Do they have completely the same performance except EMI performance?

Best Regards,

Sonoki

  • Satoshi,
I'm looking for the same answer. Did you happen to have it figured out?
Digikey information says "Over Temperature AND Over Voltage" on 103, but only "Over Temperature" on 123 - but that might just be that the distributor filled up his records differently - and playing the game of 7 differences over the datasheet is proving a tough task...
I'm also checking BQ24113, for it has host communication, and would - in theory - allow for charging NiMH as well...
    Anyone else with inputs? Thanks!!!
  • The only difference between bq24103 and bq24123 is the enhanced EMI performance on bq24123.
bq24113 is host controlled to enable charge by CMODE pin. However, the battery regulation voltage can be only chosen from 4.2V and 8.4V. It is not adjustable.

You can also refer to this comparison application note on the differences between those three device.
  • Jing Zou ni hao,

Thank you very much for pointing me to the application note! That helps a lot...

And mea culpa for not having seen it on the products documents page... information overflow!

I'll create a separate post later today with a few design considerations and maybe the forum can also make some pointers to it.

    Regards
