Reading BQ27541-G1 in HDQ mode

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ27541-G1, BQSTUDIO

Is there a version of the eval software to read the BQ27541-G1 in HDQ mode? I have some field returns of a legacy product I am trying to diagnose fuel gauge failures on and the current version of Battery Management Studio I am using (1.3.52) does not seem to support reading this gauge in HDQ mode with the EV2300

  • Hi Matt,
Are you using the hdq port of the EV2300? bqstudio ought to work in hdq for this device. pls send a picture of your set up..

    thanks

  • Photo of the test setup with power supply and ev2300, the other two connectors are for i2c to program and transfer to hdq.(one for i2c port and one for hdq Vout for the pullups)

when i start bqstudio it does not autodetect with HDQ, and then if i select the bqz file for the part i get the screen come up with the ev2300 shown but no communication to the fuel gauge

  • Hi Matt,
Can you measure the voltage on the reg25 pin to see if the internal LDO that powers the IC processor is turned on and properly functioning: this will allow us know if the device is in shut down mode. If the LDO is powered on, place a scope probe on the TS pin to see if there is a pulsing signal either every second or once every 20s to know if the device is in normal or sleep mode.

Also, i am not certain the ev2300 has pull ups on the hdq port. I would suggest pulling up the hdq line to 3.3V using 5.1k or similiar value and see if you are able to communicate.

    thanks
