TPS62090,TLV62090 / efficiency comparison

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62090, TLV62090

Hi all.
I would like to get accutual effiency data.

The input and output condition is the following .

TPS62090 and TLV62090 efficiency comparison
■Test condition 1
Input 3.3V
Output 1.2V / 0A~2A

■Test condition 2
Input 3.3V
Outut 1.5V / 0A~2A

My customer expects that two device efficiency are same result.

Brst Regards,
Sho

  • Yes, the devices have the same efficiency. Of course, the TPS62090 has the 2.8 MHz option which will give lower efficiency.
  • Hi Chris san

    Thank you for the reply.
I understood the devices have the same efficiency.
My customer use this device 1.4MHz.

Please give me efficiency date (test condition 1 and 2) of each device?
My customer requests efficyency value and graph.

    Best Regards,
    Sho

  • There are efficiency curves in each D/S. These are the same. Any difference in measured efficiency is due to tolerances/variations in the IC and external components.

Does your customer have an efficiency issue?
  • Hi Chris

Yes, I provided datasheet date and explained to my customer the devices is same efficiency.
My customer didn't assent because the datasheet efficiency evaluation condition figures are not my customer specific.

So I would like you to measure the efficiency data.
    I'm sorry for troublesome task.
Would you take care of this measument?

    Best Regards,
    Sho

  • I don't understand this. Can you please re-explain?

"the datasheet efficiency evaluation condition figures are not my customer specific" What is customer specific?
  • Hi Chris,

Sorry, costomer specific is customer use conditions
My customer use conditions are following.

    Use condition 1
    Input 3.3V
    Output 1.2V / 0A~2A

    Use condition 2
    Input 3.3V
    Outut 1.5V / 0A~2A

The datasheet is not inserted above efficiency curve.
So my customer would like to know the efficiency curve in Specific 1 and 2 case.

    Best Regards,
    Sho

  • Ah, so you would like efficiency data of the 62090 for those conditions? Normally, the customer would measure this on an EVM and use their specific inductor (which strongly affects the efficiency).
  • Chris san

Yes, I would like two device efficiency data, sorry. EVM efficiency data is OK
I think so too. I would like my customer to measure efficiency using EVM.
But my customer would likeTI's data.

    Best Regards,
    Sho

  • We provide EVMs so that customers can measure whatever they want at whatever conditions they want. In the D/S, we give efficiency graphs for 1.8Vout and 1.05Vout. Their voltages will give efficiencies in between these levels. There looks to be about 5% difference between those output voltages. As well, the inductor affects the efficiency and this is easily up to 5%. I don't understand how taking data which does not correspond to the circuit they will use (with their own inductor) is useful.

Could you explain why they want us to take the efficiency data on the EVM?
