bq40z60 discharge termination failure

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ40Z60

I ran a charge-rest-discharge-rest cycle over the weekend, and battery discharge went well past the cell-undervoltage cutoff point and discharge the 3S battery down below 6V.  The log and SREC are attached.  Can you offer any insight as to why this happened?

Thanks.

The cells are getting discharged outside of the bq40z60 control loop. Note that the DSG FET opened when the cell voltage reached the CUV threshold at Elapsed Time 41578.43 and the pack continued to discharge. The gauge can only stop the discharge with the DSG FET. Note that there is no current reported, so there is some other load on the cells.

  • Thanks Tom.  There is no legitimate discharge path outside the DSG FET, so I'll look for a component failure.

Were you able to determine from the log why the RA tables aren't updating?

    Thank you.
