bq76200 Pre Charge function

Guru 19645 points

Please let me know about relation of pre charge (PCHG) and charge pump.

Is charge pump need to turn on before pre-charge enable?

I think that PCHG is not need timing of charge pump because Pch-FET, is it correct?

Charge (CHG) and discharge (DSG) function are need to turn on charge pump at first.

But PCHG was not written in the datasheet.

Best regards,

Satoshi

  • You are correct. The pre charge (PCHG) function is for an external P-channel FET.  PCHG does not require the charge pump to operate, it is independent of the charge pump or other functions in the part.

The DSG and CHG will turn on the charge pump when needed (datasheet section 3.1), but it is recommended to use the CP_EN to turn on the charge pump first.

Apparently since the datasheet author did not describe PCHG as requiring the charge pump they did not see a need to say it is not required.  I will ask that this be clarified in a future revision, thanks for brining this to our attention.
