Hi team,

We are planning to use bq34z100-g1 IC for our project. We intend to buy by next week.

I would like to ask you the below queries regarding this,

1. When we buy it, will the chem ID, data flash will be flashed and delivered to us for the battery which we are using or we have to do that part ?

2. If we need to do, what software SDK and EVM we have to use.

3. And if we want to buy some more bq34z100-g1 ICs in future is it possible for to reuse the SDK and EVM which we bought already for a IC ??

These are my queries. Please clarify us.

The device is programmed with a default ChemID and you can reprogram it using the bqStudio program that can be downloaded from the web. You will use bqStudio during development and then you can export a golden srec (flash memory) file to program into other packs. You can use either the bqStudio or bqProduction tools to program them.

Thank you so much for the quick reply.
I understood the part where you explained about the flashing methods.

But one query is, if I buy a another BQ34Z100-g1 Fuel Gauge IC alone, in order to program the ChemID or to program flash memory in it, how it can be done.

Is it possible to flash the new IC using the already existing EVM ?.

I meant to ask whether the new bought Fuel Gauge IC can be plugged into EVM board, is there a provision to plug in/out the IC from the EVM board ?

The EVM does not have a socket, so you would have to solder a new device to it. That would not be very practical. You could build your own modules and program the device over the smbus.

Do you provide any adapter/board to connect the BQ34Z100-g1 Fuel Gauge ICs smbus port to the PC for programming ?

The EV2300 or EV2400 communications adapters can be used to communicate to the device with a PC using the bqStudio program.
