Lm5122 Constant current

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5122

Dear,

I'm building a Battery charger for a Solar Car for my thesis. To build this Battery charger i've used a LM5122 with the following properties:

- Asynchronous boost.
- 40-60 VDC input
- 140VDC output
- 1.5A output current limit.

The battery that we want to charge have a voltage from 100VDC to 140VDC.

We can charge the battery as calculated. But our question is: Is it a good idee to use the LM5122 as a constant current and not as a constant voltage? are there any downsides, accourding to stability or internal regulations ? Thanks Ruben Dhondt
