Hi,

I am trying to control 5 W (400mA * 10 V ) LED load using TPS2379EVM-106 through a an LED Driver circuit. But the load which worked fine independently with the driver circuit powered by 30 V DC, started to flicker when connected through TPS2379EVM-106. Can you please help us on the possibilities of troubleshooting this?Thank You.

Hi Gaayathri,

How are you powering the PD? With 30V power supply? Or are you using a PSE?

I am powering the PD using a 30 W PSE that delivers 55 V.

Hi Darwin,

Also can you please suggest any other LED driver IC that can control 30 W & 60 W load in constant current control mode through PD TPS2379EVM-106?

I recommend looking at the LM3409HV EVM to test with.

Hi Gaayathri,

Is the PSE turning on and off? If not, I don't believe it's the PD. It may be that the LED was not designed for 48V?

Hi Darwin,

Yes. The PSE is turning ON & OFF and the LED keeps flickering. But the LED driver is designed for input voltage of (37 - 57 V) and output of 5 W (400mA * 10 V )

Hi Gaayathri,

Is this a pulsed current (PWM dimming)? Note there is a minimum load 10mA (with specific timing per IEEE standard) required to keep the PSE ON. Try adding a dummy resistive load between VDD/RTN.
