TPS40200DR pin 5 and pin 6 relationship

hi,

For TPS40200DR, what will happened if shorted pin 5 & 6 for some time and then removed the short. Customer observed o/p voltage is same as i/p. Can you explain this failure mode?

I am checking with customer if they can share this. By the way, understand from the datasheet that this pin 6 output driver sinking current is approximately 200 mA and is designed to drive P-channel power FETs. Just want to understand if there is an built-in internal short circuit protection circuitry in between pin 5 and pin 6 ?

TPS40200 is a p channel dFET driver. The gate drive is designed to switch between Vin (off) and Vin - 8V (on). The absolute maximum voltage rating is Vin - 10 V. If you short GDRV to GND with VDD above 10 V, you are probably over-stressing the device and it will likely be damaged.
