doubt about BQ34Z100-G1 learning cycle

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ34Z100-G1

Hello, I have some doubt about the BQ34Z100-G1 learning cycle:

1、When calculate Chemistry ID,there are several errors on Battery management studio logging data file. All of errors are "No acknowledge from device".See the attach.

What is the reason? Will it cause the failure of Chemistry ID calculation?

2、Is it necessary to log data on Learning cycle process?

3、On the end of Learning cycle, the final step before generate Golden Image File as describe as follow:

1).IT enable is cleared so that the golden image can be used in mass production flow.
2). Impedance Flag and Status are updated to reflect that they are learned values and not defaults.
3). Learned Impedance is copied to other R tables.

Is it means that I must read the data flash out, and then modify data flash to clear IT_Enable and change update status from 06 to 02?

What is the mean of "Learned Impedance is copied to other R tables"?

  • Hi Snow,

    1. There is no attachment. What steps are you taking to determine the Chem ID?

    2. It is not necessary to log data to do a learning cycle. If you are trying to debug an issue with the learning cycle, it may be helpful to log data.

    3. You shouldn't need to modify the data flash at any point in the learning cycle. Both IT_Enable and Update_Status should automatically update at the necessary points in the learning cycle. The R tables are used in the Impedance Track algorithm and are based on the calculations done by the battery gauge. Once you have done a learning cycle the gauge learns the impedance of the battery at certain points in the battery profile and it saves those in memory.

  • Thank you for replying.

1, I am sorry for missing the attach. The errors show as follow:

3, You mean it's no need to send It_Enable command 0x21 to enable IT algorithm and no need to disable it? It will automatically update?

It's my first time using the fuel gauge.

  • 1. Was the log able to record the temperature, the voltage of the battery, and the current? If it was able to record those, you should be able to use the GPC tool.

    3. At the beginning of the learning cycle you do need to send IT_Enable. You do not need disable it afterwards. I'm sorry for misleading you.
