Hello to whom it may concern,

I have a question about Input Current Limit of BQ24259.
If we set following conditions,could you please teach me about behavior of Input Current Limit?
 
 ICHG = 2.048A
 IINLIM = 2A

We want to know about the behavior when IILIM has been set lower than ICHG.
If you have timing chart of Iin & ICHG & IILIM,could you please send us it?
Could you please give me any information?

  • Hi Manabu,

    the input current limit setting simply limits the current from the input source in order to not overload the source itself. This means that the charge current required form the battery cannot increase over the value for which the required input current would exceed the input current limit. 

    The charge current cannot increase further and the IINDPM (Input current Dynamic Power Management) condition is reached, where the device limits the charge current in order not to overload the source. Check section 8.3.2.2 of the datasheet for a complete explanation of the Dynamic Power Management. In the same section, Fig.13 provides the timing information you were looking for.

    It isn't written about time sequnence in Fig13.

    When the input current reaches IILIM,how much late is ICHG begin to fall?
    I want to know the specific values.

    I operated via I2C changing the input current limit and so forcing IINDPM: the delay between the I2C communication start and the effective drop of ICHG is about 126us
