TPS65130/65131 input/ output range

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65131

I am going to use TPS65131 to generate both positive and negtive power supplies with single +5V input. I were confused when I had a look of the datasheet to find out what input range and output range are available. On page 4, section 6.3 it is specified that the minimum positive voltage us input voltage plus 0.5 Volt. But, on page 17, in figure 21, the output is +5Volt and the input can reach 5 volt even higher with good efficiency. Can this device output +/- 5V with a single 5V input?

  • Hello yu wang19,

Thanks for the notice. The correct output voltage that applies to this figure (and to some other figures) is 5.5 V.
Please stick with the information that are given in the electrical characteristics. By nature of a non-synchronous boost converter the output voltage can only be VIN + VD (~0.5 V, depending on the forward voltage drop of the selected rectifier diode).
This needs to be corrected, I will inform as soon as the datasheet has been updated.

    Thank you.
    Best Regards,
    Ilona
