TPS22959DNYR Load switch

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS22959

Hi,

I would like to connect 3 cell Li-ion and 3 cell Li-Po battery packs parallel, and i wan to connect and disconnect Li-po battery to the system  with signal pin from rapsberry pi.   sometimes i will need to draw 13 A max  , is this load switch TPS22959DNYR   suitable for my project ?

  • Hi Tamleykha,

    What are the ambient temperature requirements for this application?  For 13A, the maximum ambient temperature can be calculated below:

    Ta = Tj(max) - (thetaJA * I^2 * Ron(max))

    Ta = 125C - (44.6 * 13^2 * 0.0058)

    Ta = 125 - 43.72

    Ta = 81.28C

    This is for VBIAS = 5V.  Does the application stay below 81C?

    Thanks,

    Alek Kaknevicius

  • Thanks for your reply Alek,

    I will draw 13 A for a short time like 1 minute during take off, usually i will draw 1-3 A.   I just order to test.. and I couldnt find for up to 12V.  is there a version that i can use 10-12 V range input voltage

  • Hi Tamleykha,

    Sorry for the delayed response.  I don't think there should be any issue using the TPS22959 for this current draw, and please let us know if you have any questions while evaluating.

    As for a 12V / 13A load switch, we do not have one in out portfolio.  Can you let us know what sort of application this is for?

    Thanks,

  • i am making hybrid battery pack for UAV.   Li-ion and Li-Polymer battery packs connected parallel  i need to connect and disconnect Li-po battery in different flight modes. for example at take-off  and climbe should be connected parallel to Li-ion,   2nd  when li-ion drained should connect again, also after it lands should disconnect to protect to battery packs not to charge each other.

    I have received this component today, the thing is component and pads are very tiny , 14A  cable is tick   i cannot solder
