BQ25570: Safe Current Charging Limit?

Hi Support,

Am trying to use this chip for my small solar panel and put a 870mAHr 1 Cell, 3.7V on the VBAT.
Would like to know the charging current from bq25570 like?
Reason: To try to charge the Li-ion at a safe Current limit.

Thanks.

  • Hi Support,

In addition, noticed the following when testing.
Attached a single cell Li-ion onto the VBAT, 8500mAHr
System Load is 1mA and my output set at 3V

When solar panel is under direct sunlight. My Output COUT will be 3V toggling On and Off at Load of 1 mA. BAT OK Signal will also be toggling High and Low

When I covered the solar Panel from sunlight . The output at COUT will be continuous Steady voltage at load of 1 mA.

    I use the followings:

    1) I follow exactly same value a written in yr datasheet
    Page 24-25 Figure 24.
Except that output is set to 3V.. I have reverted back to 1.8V it seems like  same problem

2). Solar Cells. I connect 2 in parallel ( See attached)

    Thanks.

  • Hi Support,
    Please advise the soonest.
    Thanks.
  • Hi ikon,

We charge by voltage and not current. It is analogous to CV charging. What is the charging current limit on your battery? With the 850mAH battery, we are under 0.3C at all times.

We are considering the current limit on a newer device.

    thanks,
    Gautham

  • Hi Gautham,

Noted. Customer also experience ON-OFF at the Output when charging by solar... Is this normal?

    Thanks.

  • Ikon,

Could you please clairfy the ON/OFF behavior? There will be a minor ripple on the output but not an ON/OFF behavior.

    regards,
    Gautham
