BQ24160RGET - Configuration sequence through I2C

Hi,

We are using BQ24160RGET in our application with external 5V adapter as supply and single 4.2V Li ion battery. When adapter connected, Vsys is generated which powers the MCU, and it boots up. In the boot up sequence first, the 2C communication is established and want to configure the charger IC to a new Vbatreg of 4.2V and charging current of 775mA.

Question is : Can we directly go an change the Vbatreg and Charge current? Or Should we disable charging using CE bit and perform the configuration changes?

We couldn't find the sequence of operations for changing the configuration in the datasheet. Please can you provide some info on this or some documents where the sequence for configuration is mentioned.
