I purchased 5 of this board TPS54232-EVM-415.
I intended to use this DC-DC regulator in my experimental set up.
My set up voltage is set to be at 16.8V and i will like the EVM board to regulate it to 12V and 2A output to support my system.
Testing of the board with a external power supply generator set at 16.8V and 2A input, the TI Dc-Dc board works perfectly.
However, when i changed the power supply to an external lipo battery pack providing 16.8V, 2200mah output, upon connecting the battery to the Vin of the board, a huge spark appeared and the IC chip on the TI board burnt.
May i know what is causing this issue?
I have tested the battery with 3 of my boards and all 3 suffered the same effects of having sparks before the ic chip burnt. All worked perfectly with the power supply however.
May i have some insight of why is this happening?
