Hey,

Can the LM5106 chip be used to power a h bridge and maintain an open high side mosfet indefinitely?

If not, do you have any suggestions for a chip that can?

Hi Danny,

In general, a bootstrap configuration cannot power the high side indefinitely. A charge pump, or a bootstrap with a trickle charge pump can.

What is your target voltage and application?

I am using it to buffer an output pin of an MCU (3.3->12v).
the chip is powering two NMos in a half bridge configuration.

Hi Danny,

Let's see what the experts on the LM5106 say.

If looking for a gate driver, a possible option may be the DRV8701. It has an internal charge pump.
If you are considering integrating the FETs, the DRV88xx series may work. This will depend on your application.

Hi Danny,

In your question, you wanted to keep the high side MOSFET OFF.

Is that correct? If yes, you can use LM5106.

If that is not correct, and you need to keep high side FET ON for long duration, i.e. 100% duty cycle, then LM5106 would not work for you.

In that case you need to go by Rick's suggestion as mentioned in previous reply.
