For TPS65148, if the customer doesn’t want to use the discharge function, could the VDET pin be set floating?
Hello Robin Yu,
In general it is good design practice to terminate all input pins because this generates defined states for the IC. So if there is still the possibility to change schematic and layout, I would recommend to connect VDET to VIN.
But even if this pin is floating, the only effect I could imagine is a slightly increased supply current because /XAO is pulled to GND the whole time. If the /XAO pin is floating as well, this current will be small and therefore I do not expect any negative effect if the VDET is floating as long as /XAO is floating as well.
Best regards,
Brigitte
