TPS2546EVM testing issue

We are currently testing the T.I. TPS2546 EVM together with one of working platform for the USB playback and charging functions. From our testing results, the USB playback operates properly. However, there were questions from the charging function when testing with Apple devices. As you can see from the attached picture, we were using the last settings “CTL1, CTL2, CTL3 and ILIM_SEL to HIGH” and the results were as following. 

 

A. USB playback: 

- Imation USB stick: OK

 

B. USB charging:

- Samsung S3: OK;

- Apple lightning devices, including iPhone 6/5s/5/iPad mini 2/iPad mini: OK;

-Apple 30pin devices, including iPhone 4s/iPhone 3Gs/iPad 3: Not supported. 

 

Can you help to check if the all the Apple devices can be supported or that was conditional? Please advise.

    We have this data for the devices you mentioned:

    iPhone4s MD239ZP: 500mA in CDP mode and 900mA in DCP_Auto mode

    iPhone 3Gs A1241: 500mA in CDP mode and 700mA in DCP_Auto mode

    iPhone 3Gs MB489J/A: 500mA in CDP mode and 800mA in DCP_Auto mode

    iPad 3: We don't have data for the generic iPad 3 but most likely in CDP mode it will not support fast charge and in DCP_Auto mode it will charge at ~1.5A.

    The newer devices will support fast charge in CDP mode but not the older ones.
