BQ40z50-r1

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ40Z50-R1

Hello there,

I have a problem with the temperature calibration of the BQ40z50-R1

“Calibration – Calculated external sensor two temperature correction is out of range” ( Sometimes the error also shows as sensor one)

We use only one temperature sensor on TS1. The other TS1 inputs are disabled and to GND.

Has anyone got an idea of what could be wrong here?

In my application I have the following parameters:

  * Battery voltage (VBAT) ->  typ. 14,6 V, max.  16,8V

  * Input current (IIN) and voltage (VBUS) -> VBUS = 3V3

  * System voltage (VSYS) and current (ISYS) -> IDSG = 2750mA

  * Charge current (ICHG) -> 1375 mA

  * Registers setup (I can share the relevant parts if it is required)

  • Dear Team,

    could you please help this customer?

    They also have a problem with the Evalboard now on top.

    we have unexpected behavior in the current consumption in sleep and shutdown with the BQ50Z50R1 EVAL-Board.

    According to Data Sheet, the current consumption in sleep mode should be 75μA. At this EVA-Board required in sleep mode 300μA.

    In shutdown total 170μA (the BQ to 1.6 uA need).

    If the values are so fine or EVA board should consume actually less?

    If the values are normal, you can tell us what peripheral components need this power?

    Or. can be lowered to which components of the power consumption?

    Thanks a lot in advance for your help.

    Do you have the option to calibrate more than one thermistor on the calibration screen? If not, then go to Window >> Preferences >> All Global Setting as select the Show Advanced Views option and this should provide the option to calibrate just TS1 and prevent the error.

    I measure about 120uA at the EVM level when the bq40z50-R1 is in Sleep mode with the FETs on and about 90uA when the FETs are off. I measure about 5uA when in Shutdown.

  • Dear Tom,

    thanks a lot for your support!

    Best regards,
    Massimiliano.
  • Hi there,

    Thank you very much for the help here! With the far larger Current, is it possible that the EVM needs replaced or is broken?

    If not what could be the reason for the excessive current consumption of the Module.

    Thanks in advance for your support.

    James

  • How are you measuring the current? I opened the connection between the 1N port and the bottom of the cell stack and placed a current meter in the path. If your current readings are that much higher, then something may be damaged. There are few external components that can contribute to current. the 2nd level protector is one.
  • Hey Thomas,

    The measurement technique used is, in principle, the same as you. However the connection between 4P and the positive terminal is seperated.
