TPS65083x BAT2SWONZ application

Hi,

Customer has a application regarding BAT2SWONZ and EC_ONOFF.  The purpose is to drive BAT2SWONZ high while EN_ONOFF is low.  The plan is to connected EC_ONOFF to BAT2 pin.

My questions are,

  1. Will BAT2SWONZ be low or high when BAT2 pin gets low or high?
  2. Is the threshold for BAT2 comparator fixed at 1.25V?
  3. What is the sugestion of VINPP connection under such scenario?

Thanks!

Antony

  • Antony,

    1. BAT2SWONZ will be LOW if the BAT2 is HIGH.
    2. Yes
    3. EC_ONOFF should never be high before VIN nor ever be greater than VIN therefore, the VINPP can be negliect EC_ONOFF as an input power supply. Thus, VINPP would not change from the current diode selector if both ACIN and BAT1 are also being used or it can be connected just to VIN/highest voltage on the PMIC, (adaptor or battery which would use the diode selector).
  • Hi Michael.

THanks. Just want to double confirm. The design as below is ok, right?

    VINPP is connected to VIN.
    BAT2 is connected from EC_ONOFF .
BAT2SWONZ is externally pulled up to 3.3V.

    THanks!

  • Antony,

What about BAT1? How is it connected?
If it is not used then you are ok how you have it now.
If you connect it to another power source that would be on before VIN then you may need a switch over to VINPP to select the highest voltage between VIN & this possible PWR supply sensed by BAT1.
