bq78350-R1 SOC estimate after reset

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ78350-R1, BQ78350, GPCCHEM

Hi all,

I am using the bq78350-R1 to determine SOC. I want to know how different reset conditions affect how the chip determines the SOC.

On a power cycle (connecting to the battery) the chip uses the open circuit voltage to determine the SOC.

After a charge/discharge cycle the device uses the coulomb counter to determine SOC.

Now my question is what determines the SOC after a reset takes place. Is the coulomb counter still used to determine SOC? Is this the same if the cause of a reset is the MRST pin or if a soft reset from a master microcontroller is sent?

I am using a reset sent on the SMBus to reset any error conditions and using the MRST to turn off the BMS in periods of long inactivity. Would this affect my SOC estimates?

Thanks,
Jeremy
