bq24032 charging current issue

hi

I have used BQ24032 for battery charging application as well as powering the system. i put R=10k at ISET2 and ISET1 in HIGH.

so that i may get I(bAT)=1 Amps as charging current.

however i am not getting charging current more than 300 mA with rest of the system disconnected9(No Load)

Kindly suggest.

  • Battery charging current setting can be found on page 20. ISET 1 is used to set the charge current for AC input while ISET2 is used to set charge current for USB input. Use resistor to program charge current at ISET1 only.

Anyhow, assuming you are in AC mode and using ISET1 to program the charge current. Using equation 5 on the datasheet, 2.5*424/10k = 0.106A not 1A.

What is the setting on PSEL?

    Please share your schematic.
  • Sorry i have used R(ISET1)=1K so i get 1 A of maximum Charging current.
PSEL is pulled HIGH using 100K to 5.0 V. if i am charging a battery of 5.2 Ah with 1 A i will take approx 5 Hr to charge how to reduce time of charging?
  • Do you have the schematic?

Are you using a adapter? What is the power rating on the adapter?

Are you using the AC input or USB input?

Please verify that the input is not reaching it's input current limit with your current setting.

Time of charging can be reduced by increase fast charge timer.

You might want to move to a switch mode charger with higher charging current capability.
