TPS7A8101 Vout vs Vin

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7A8101, TPS7A87
  • a. High-Speed ADCs(125MSPS)
  • b. 5V
  • c. 1.15V
  • d. 500mA
  • e.
  • f.
  • g. SON
  • h.

I want to know if the 5V input to 1.15V output drop is too much and what specs will this affect.  I am interested in noise and PSRR, not so much efficiency.  I need two channels of this.  Is there a more appropriate non-switching device?

Thanks,

Chuck Smyth

  • Hi Chuck,

For optimal PSRR and noise performance, it is important to ensure that the device is not in thermal shutdown or in dropout, which your conditions should satisfy. Since you need two channels, have you looked at the TPS7A87? It is a dual channel LDO, and should meet your requirements. You would also save board space compared to using two TPS7A8101, since the TPS7A87 is a 4x4 package.

  • Yuanhao,

Thanks for the response.  Yes, I saw the TPS7A8x parts and they look interesting, but I think that had reduced PSRR in my band of interest (500kHz-20MHz).  Also, I need three channels: 1.8, 1.15 and 1.15V.  Is there a one channel equivalent to the TPS7A8x part?  I also need something like a soft-start feature, which I think is featured in both parts.

  • Hi Chuck,

The single channel TPS7A8x device is in development.

    Very Respectfully,
