MR -input TPS3613-01

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS3613-01

Hello;

We are using the MR input of the TPS3613-01 as input for an open drain watchdog overflow puls of an MPU.

The pulsewidth is about 5us. Can we use it that way?

What is  the minimal pulse width allowed for using the MR input?

Regards Pieter

  • Hi Pieter,

    The /MR pin is designated as an input, however the way you are stating your question makes it appear as you want to use it as an output to another device.

    As for your other question, the max propagation delay for the /MR to /reset is 1 us which falls below your concerned pulsewidth of 5us so it should have no issues with responding at that pulse width.

  • Hi Zachary;

    Thanks for your quick response.

     We are using the /MR as an input.

    It is connected to the open drain output of the watchdog overflow output of the MCU.

    This output generates a 5us negative pulse in case of watchdog -overflow.

    Is the /MR input designed for such a short pulse?

    With kind regards;

    Pieter

  • Hi Pieter,

    Since you are using the MCU to trigger the /MR pin on the TPS3613-01, then the supervisor will respond to a 5us pulse. If you reference the snippet of the datasheet i included in my previous message, you will see that the propogation delay from the /MR pin to the /RESET pin is at max 1us. So in other words, for the /RESET pin to respond to a change triggered by the /MR pin, it will take at max 1us. Even if your pulse width decreased to 1 us, your set up should still be able to work.
