Looking for "Isolated" PWM Controller Selection Help

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC2803

I've got an application where we want to generate an isolated +/-12VDC from a 5VDC source. We'll also want to create 3.3VDC and 5VDC and all currents are below 250mA. The selection process on TI's site does not allow you to filter by Vin and I see that many of the PWM controllers require 7VDC or more input.

Does any have some general advice on some parts to look at??

Thanks,

George

Use a 555 astable multivibrator and built a voltage doubler. At the output of the voltage doubler you would get voltage above 7 Volts. use UC384X series and forward converter and get the other output voltage.

    Hope this helps.

  • George,

You could use either the UCC2803 or the UC2805 in either a Flyback or forward topology with multiple secondary outputs to get the vvoltages you are lookng for. The cross regulation of the outputs would be a concern.

The forward with a coupled output inductor may be the best options for better regulation.
