TPS62140/about actively discharge

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62135, TPS62140

Hi,

Could you tell me about PGOOD sink current in active dischage timing?
Customers want to discharge following conditions.

Vout :1.2V
Dischage resistor : 470Ω
(Dischage current : 1.2 / 470=2.55mA)
Dischage time : 30ms

Is this condition allright?

Best regards,
Yusuke/Japan Disty

  • Yes, this configuration is ok. If you want the discharge, be sure and use the A version of the IC.

Whether it meets your discharge time requirement is another question. This depends on the output capacitance, load, and what voltage Vout must be below in order to be considered discharged.

As well, we have the new TPS62135 as preview. This one incorporates a stronger output discharge in the device.
  • Chris-san,

    Thank you for your support.
Customers are using the TPS62140(not A version).
    In this case,
Whether the device will be discharged unless in the OFF state(UVLO,EN off, thermal shutdown)?

If there is another opportunity,I want to expand sales of TPS62135.

    Best regards,
    Yusuke/Japan Disty

  • No, the non-A version will not perform the discharge function. See section 9.3.2 in the D/S.
