EV2X00 for evaluation board

good morning,

i have to buy a battery charger and i see the family components bq2477x...i would want to buy the evaluation board of this component but first i would want to know if i have to buy also the ev2300/2400.. because in my pc i have the directly access to the smbus and for this i think it's useless buy the ev2X00...this idea is it wrong?

Sorry for the lack of response.

Any evaluation software that comes with the EVM will be looking for the EV2x00, so you won't be able to use that software without the EV2x00. The EVM itself only requires the SMBus comm lines, so if you have a way of getting that without the EV2300 or EV2400, and you don't plan to use any software that comes with the EVM, then you can forgo purchasing the comm box.
