USB pass through after charge detection

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24392, BQ24190

Hello,

does the bq24190 allow me to have my USB transceiver device connected to the same D+/D- line that is used for charger detection? I want to use the same USB connector both for charging and OTG communications. Or should I use a kind of bq24392 switch?

If bq24190 is allowed to be on the same USB line with a transceiver, what are the layout recommendations? Will the splitting of D+/D- line distort the USB signal?

Thank you.

Dmitry

  • Hello Dmitry,

When using the bq24190, the host processor must be able to place the D+/D- in HIZ for the first second when VBUS power is applied to allow the bq24190 to drive the D+/D- lines for D+/D- detection.

The bq2419x will HIZ D+/D- after the first second when VBUS power is applied when DCP is not detected to allow the host processor to drive D+/D- for USB communication.

The resistor can be 200ohm or below.
