BQ78350 deadband setting

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76930, BQ78350

Hi,

In battery pack based on BQ76930 and BQ78350, there are some current report under no load as below.

Deadband setting is 3mA.

1. What makes below current flow?

2. if customer set deadband to 20mA, what is expected problem besides small current sensitivity?

3. If customer produce their application with 3mA deadband, what is expected problem?

Thanks.

  • The current could be a "ghost" current due to noise or it could be a real current caused by something pulsing in the pack. You can set the Deadband to a higher value and the current will not be reported, but it will continue to contribute to the Passed Charge, because it is above the CC Deadband. The Quit Current and CHG and DSG Current Thresholds need to be set higher than the Deadband.
