I seem to be unable to get the heater control to work with the BQ34Z651.

I am cooling temperature sensors to be well below the trip point set in the data flash but the GPOD output never switches and therefore never turns on the heater.

The 653 has a way of configuring GPOD as mentioned in this document http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/sluu986/sluu986.pdf but I am unable to find an equivalent document for the BQ34Z651 that has any detail regarding the GPOD configuration.

Has someone come across this before, or knows where I would be able to find a technical reference manual for the BQ34Z651?

There is a TRM addendum available on the bq34z651 website. I have tested the heater feature before, but it may have been on the 653. I will have to bench test it again, but it will be next week before I can get to it. '

Hi Tom,

Thanks for pointing that out, it is a good reference.

When I set the HPOL bit (which should give the polarity that I need the bqEQSW gives me the following strange pattern in all of the status registers and doesn't change anything in terms of running the heater.

It is also worth noting that I have set 'Heater Temp' and 'Heater Hys' both to 2 degC and I am running the temp sensor at -5 degC. So it should be on.

I have not had a chance to work with it and I will be out of the office for the next week. I will look at it as soon as possible after I return.
