TPS68470 WLED_NTC cap

Hi,

In addition to the NTC placed between WLED_NTC pin and GND, customer would also like to add a cap in parallel for EMI/ESD purpose.  May I know what is the accetable range of cap value here?

Thanks!

Antony

  • You can probably use a small cap in the range of 0.1uF or so. The concern would be if the cap would cause any false readings either false HOT detection or failure to detect HOT conditions. I don't think you have an issues with failure to detect HOT conditions as heating will take a longer time to change and the cap is LP filter the pin, not harming this protection device operation.

I wonder if the cap could give false HOT indications as it charges up I think this should be tested with the customer's software to see if that may cause any issues. You can try it on the EVM or have them try it on their board.
