BQ25570 Solarpanel current

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25570

Hi,

So the BQ25570 is working fine but the problem i am facing is that the solar panel is putting at 1V 100uA and the battery is charged with 10uA only.

I am using this solar panel:

Why dos it flow so less current to the battery? How can i improve the current for charging the battery?

If i put an external power supply instead of the solarpannel, the BQ25570 consumes like 70mA from it and it charges the battery only with 13mA.

Regards,

Michael

  • Michael,

For testing purpose can you use a sourcemeter on both the battery and the VIN? What is the VBAT_OV setting? Any resistance path between VIN and the solar panel?

    thanks,
    Gautham
  • Hi Gautham,

yes i did that already. I put a source (2V 200mA) with currentmeter in VIN and on the battery a currentmeter.
The VBAT_OV is set to 4.2V.
I measure like 4.1V on VBAT and a charging current of 48mA. The BQ25570 consumes like 120mA out of the source.
    It looks like this:

    2V/4.1V * 120mA * 80% = 46,82mA

So i think the BQ25570 is working fine but how do i impove my solarpanel settings to get the most out of it?
I dont have any resistance between VIN and solar panel. Should i use one?

    Thanks,

    Michael
