working solution the TPS65217 without DCDCx

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65217

Hi,

i will use the TPS65217 without DCDCx. i know since there are power sequence in logic it is not work without VDCDCx(feedback).

please let me know how do i working if i don't use DCDC function.

thanks,

Chase.

  • Hi Chase,

The schematic checklist details how to configure unused pins:

For the DCDCs, float the switch nodes and tie VDCDCx to any higher voltage rail. A rail that is active before the unused strobe should avoid any internal PG issues during sequencing.
  • Hi Richard.

thanks for your feedback. it was clear.

I have a one more question for TPS65217x

I've been making a circuit for battery charger. I wondering how can I check the work on battery charging? I can’t check battery charging is working good or not. I think it have to need some indicator but I can’t find it.

    Chase.

  • Hi Chase,

In software you can check the status of the charger in the CHGCONFIG0 register.

In the lab, measuring the voltage on the BAT pin should tell if the charger is working or not.

Additionally, you can monitor the charging current by selecting VICHARGE in the MUXCTRL register and measuring the proportional voltage on MUX_OUT. With this, you can actively monitor the charging current if MUX_OUT is connected to a spare ADC in your system.
