Dear all.
What is the reason that the pre-charge timer is setting at 30 minutes?
(If 15 min. or 45 min.)

PAN-M

Hi PAN-M,
It is simply the time that was decided during the definition of the device. The battery should be able to come out of precharge before the 30 mins timeout. You can change the precharge current with ISET2 to accommodate your battery capacity so that you don't hit the 30mins timeout.

PAN-M,
Is your application having issues with the precharge timer? 30 mins is enough to wake up a battery from precharge region. If your battery cannot wake up after 30 mins, either the battery has a lot of capacity under 3V or the pack is heavily degraged/damaged. If it is because of a lot of capacity, you can simply increase precharge current.

I think our customer doesn't have trouble.
They thought of why this timer was established at 30 minutes and would like just to extend time.
I think their battery chemistry is Co.
Can they think every kind of chemistry is no problem at 30 minutes?
Thank you for support and I close this question.

Hi PAN-M,
I don't think there should be any problem with LiCoO2, it should have the same charging profile as any li-ion battery. You can look at the bq24620/30 for LiFePO4 as well.
