5V to 60V Boost circuit w/ NE555 Timer IC ?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: NE555, LM2585, LM2588, LM5121, TPS40210, LM2586, LM5122, LM3488, LM2587

Based on a couple of reference designs and NE555 datasheet, I created a circuitry as below.

I'm thinking to put 100uH for L1 with switching frequency set to ~30kHz.

Can anyone comment on this design for any improvements ?

Thank you.

  • Why would you want to use the 40+ year old NE555 timer as a boost controller?  I would suggest you look at LM3488, LM5122, LM5121,  LM2585, LM2586, LM2587, LM2588 or TPS40210 instead.
