BQ76940+BQ78350 issue

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76940, BQ78350

Hi team,

My customer is using BQ76940+BQ78350, and their configuration process is :

[1] Configure BQ76940 through IIC

[2] Connect BQ76940 with BQ78350 for communication

[3] Remove BQ78350 gauge

[4] Read BQ76940 through IIC again,Customer found that the register value is not what we have configured, but the default value in EVM.

Can you give an explaination?

Thanks.

Luke

  • Hi Luke,

The bq76940 is a SLAVE device. Independent of the contents inside of the bq769x0, once the communication handshake with  bq78350  happens, the registers inside the AFE is over-written by the host.

  • Hi Vish,

    Thanks for your reply.

Per your suggestion, we are trying to configure BQ76940 through BQ78350 using "Battery Management Studio". But we have encounter another question:

I used the Cell simulator on BQ76940 to act as 15 series battery. And I applied a 36V DC voltage to the BAT+ and BAT-.  That is 2.4V per CELL.

When Power on, the register map of BQ78350 shown as below, we got a CUV fault.

I recognized that the under voltage threshold of BQ78350 has a default value: 2.5V. But when I tried to modify this under voltage threshold, it reminds:"A read of data written failed comparison" ,shown in the left lower corner of below picture:

It seems that i can not configure the BQ76940 through BQ78350 as long as this CUV fault exist ? Any way that I can clear the fault and modify the Under voltage threshold? Thanks !

    BR,

    Luke
