DOUBT REGARDING DC-DC CONVERTERS

I need to have a 4-40 V input 4A output dc-dc converter.  Getting confused with what to do as there are no ic's available involving these specifications.????

What output voltage do you require? I assume that this is a non-isolated DC-DC application?

If you search available TI power designs usign the parametric search here, you can refine the available designs to meet your spec:
    www.ti.com/.../refdesignsearchresults.tsp

Here you clikc on "Search power reference design parameters"

When I enter 4 v min, 40 V max, it shows 6 possible designs with different output voltages and currents.

This one is a buck converter rated for 3V3 output @ 4 A:
    www.ti.com/.../TIDA-00801

There are also some boost and buck-boost designs, depending on the required output voltage.

Take a look at those 6 designs to see if one of them meets your needs.

I hope this helps you out.

    Bernard
