TPS782 / Iq Expected when vi < Vo nominal +VLDO

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS782

Hi,

using TPS782 we have tested that when Vi > 2.31 Iq is always below 1uA (30uA load). When vi < Vo nominal +VLDO so Vi <2.32V Iq is around 5.5uA. Values given obtained when working in dropout mode.

There is no info in the datasheet, depending on part tested we have significant different Iq (10 uA and even more)

Do you have aditional info?

  • Hi Marcos,

The Ignd you find in the specs is for the test condition stated in the datasheet, which is for a common use of the LDO, not in dropout.

Never then less I can provide you a typical plot for the TPS78228 at light loads. The plot shows Ignd and Vout depending of Vin. As you can recognize as soon as the part get into dropout the current trough the GND pin increases to around 5.5µA.

The hole TPS782 family behaves like this but the voltage at which it will enter dropout will be based on the nominal output voltage.

    Best regards,
    Nicolás
